Where to eat in Canton & Brewers Hill
Canton Rooftop Harbor View sits on S. Conkling Street in the Canton / Brewers Hill area, so guests have several restaurants and bars on the same street or within the surrounding neighborhood. These are the places I would point guests toward first.
Restaurant hours, menus and reservation policies change. Check the restaurant’s official site before heading out.
Nearby Canton & Brewers Hill favorites
These are the neighborhood places I would call out first, with Union Hill ranked ahead of OLAR for guests asking where I would personally start.
Union Hill Kitchen & Craft Bar
938 S. Conkling St. — my first recommendation for a nearby neighborhood restaurant. Union Hill pairs creative New American food with a craft bar, and its current site highlights weekend brunch, late-night dining and a gathering-friendly atmosphere.
Gunther & Co.
3650 Toone St. — a polished nearby choice for a special dinner, cocktails or brunch in the historic Gunther Boiler Building.
Huck’s American Craft
3728 Hudson St. — an easy neighborhood choice for creative American comfort food, craft beer and cocktails. Huck’s describes itself as a modern bistro built around American classics and also serves brunch.
Mama’s on the Half Shell
2901 O’Donnell St. — a classic Canton seafood stop on O’Donnell Square for crab cakes, Maryland seafood, raw-bar favorites and weekend brunch.
Annabel Lee Tavern
601 S. Clinton St. — my favorite local hangout. The tavern is dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe, with Poe-inspired decor, food and specialty cocktails in a small neighborhood setting.
of Love & Regret (OLAR)
1028 S. Conkling St. — still a good very-close option on the same stretch of Conkling Street. I rank Union Hill ahead of it as a first recommendation, but OLAR remains convenient for food, cocktails and drinks.
Mobtown Brewing Company
4015 Foster Ave., Suite 400. Mobtown calls itself “Beer from Brewers Hill” and ties directly into the neighborhood’s brewing history. Good choice when the priority is a local taproom rather than a full restaurant dinner.
Canton Square
O’Donnell Square is the traditional heart of Canton, surrounded by restaurants, pubs and shops. It is useful when a group wants to walk around and decide where to eat after seeing the options.
Brunch, cocktails & casual meals
For a slower morning or an easy night out, several neighborhood favorites cover more than just dinner.
Weekend brunch
Mama’s on the Half Shell, Union Hill, Huck’s, Gunther & Co. and OLAR all offer brunch or weekend daytime service. Check the official site for current days and times.
Cocktails & local hangouts
Union Hill and Gunther are strong cocktail choices, Huck’s is the casual neighborhood option, and Annabel Lee Tavern is my favorite local hangout when I want a distinctive Baltimore/Poe atmosphere.
Waterfront dining & Baltimore seafood nearby
Canton is a waterfront neighborhood, so it is worth having at least one harbor-facing meal during a Baltimore stay.
Bayside Cantina
2809 Boston St. — a waterfront Mexican restaurant overlooking the marina, with tacos, guacamole, margaritas, weekend brunch and harbor-facing outdoor seating.
Captain James Seafood Palace
2127 Boston St. — a long-running Baltimore seafood restaurant known for steamed crabs and its ship-shaped building. This is farther from the house than the Brewers Hill choices but useful when guests specifically want a traditional Baltimore seafood stop.
More dining around Canton and Fell’s Point
Canton Crossing
The Shops at Canton Crossing add convenient national retailers, groceries and additional dining options close to the neighborhood. It is useful for groups that want errands and food in one stop.
Fell’s Point
For a larger concentration of restaurants, waterfront pubs and historic streets, Fell’s Point is a natural next stop west along the harbor. Visit Baltimore describes it as one of the city’s oldest waterfront neighborhoods and a major dining destination.
